Training

The John Humphrey Centre’s staff are experienced educators and facilitators who will work with you to design a workshop or training session to fit your needs and exceed your expectations.  Our training programs are designed to engage individuals of all ages, backgrounds and abilities with topics and issues in our community and in the global community.

Our expertise is in experiential education; a format that involves transformative and applied learning that reinforces an individual’s understanding of dignity and expands their awareness through engagement with others. True learning comes through experience and engagement with others and our goal is to provide learning that is transformational and engages the learner in the outcomes.  Our approach to educational programming is specifically designed to empower participants to build their active voice and citizenship and apply their learning to address needs they identify in their community.

We can tailor training for your organization or classroom - whether on the protected grounds of human rights, diversity, anti-oppression or human rights based approaches. Please contact us for more details. Some examples of recent training programs include gender discrimination in the workplace, cultural competency, Human Rights Based Approaches to Programming and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our programs always include learner participatory engagement and often incorporate the expertise of a member of our network of social justice practitioners so as to bring the practical applications of the learning to our participants.
