Join us for the Lethbridge premiere screening of Intersections of Identity, a powerful documentary by Damian Abrahams that explores the lived experiences of individuals facing homelessness in both rural and urban Alberta. Through the transformative power of art, this film follows a groundbreaking fourteen-month initiative (January 2024–March 2025) that engaged low-income citizens with intersectional marginalized identities in creative beading workshops designed to inform systemic change.
The documentary uncovers the deep-seated social and institutional challenges the unhoused community faces daily. More than just a reflection of hardship, Intersections of Identity amplifies their voices to inform and influence decision-makers, service organizations, and policymakers. It explores the crucial intersections of poverty, racism, and discrimination within social services, illustrating how healing-centered, community-driven approaches can help create tangible solutions for homelessness.
