YEG Dignity Presents: Do The Rights Thing on August 12.

Do The Rights Thing August 12

Do the Rights Thing is a quarterly film screening exploring human rights issues, locally and across Canada. It represents an opportunity to bring greater awareness to issues of injustice in our community by making space for those with lived experience to tell their own stories.

August 12 @ 3:30 pm

Metro Cinema, 8712 109 St NW

Screening:

Village of Widows

Village of Widows recounts the tragedy of the Sahtu Dene people, who were employed by the Canadian Government in transporting uranium during World War II and for many years after.  The ore was sold to the U.S. military and became fuel for the bombs that devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki.   Today, deadly radiation poisoning from the nearby mine has made the village of Deline a community without grandfathers.
