Call for Advocates- Filmmakers!

The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC) has long-standing ties with young artists fighting for rights through creative means. J4R 2019 will allow us to continue to bridge these communities through mentorship opportunities and programming that shares invaluable filmmaking skills from directing, editing, cinematography, producing, screenwriting, interviews, and ethics.

In partnership with STORYHIVE, other DIY filmmakers from MacEwan University, FAVA, The Edmonton Short Film Festival and Edmonton Community Arts Network (ECAN), we bring you  The Free Media School, and we are looking for people like you!

Calling Edmonton DIY Filmmakers!

The Justice 4 Reel Free Media School kicks off September 13th in Edmonton. This six month program will connect emerging DIY filmmakers to mentorship and programming opportunities to strengthen filmmaking skills; from directing, editing, cinematography, producing, screenwriting, interviews, and ethics. 

Over the course of the school participants will be supported by industry mentors and community advocates in the creation of a one to two minutes PSA’s that will tap into the important issues and experiences of Edmonton’s diverse communities. 

All camera equipment and post production equipment will be provided free of charge for the participants once they are selected for the program.
