Kimberley Wenger and Megan Sinnett will present on “Let’s get growing - an introduction to growing your own food.” They will share practical information about growing food indoors and micro-green gardening.

There has never been a better time to plant some seeds and grow some food. New to gardening? Have skills to share? Join us to discuss how we can learn more about our food supply, and how we can work towards having access to healthy and safe food.

Kimberley Wenger has worked the front-lines of Regina non-profits for the past ten years; developing and delivering an array of programs to meet the needs of her community. She spent the past three years as the Community Greenhouse Coordinator at the Regina Food Bank where her work focused on empowering children, youth, and adults with food literacy skills to improve our community food security. Experiencing hunger and poverty herself as a youth; she is committed to providing our community with opportunities to grow their own food, make healthy food choices, and develop cooking skills to improve individual and community health. Kim has just recently transitioned into the role of Community Distribution Coordinator at the Regina Food Bank and is currently dedicated to ensuring community members who are vulnerable and in need of nutritious food have the opportunity to stay home and stay safe while still receiving supports. Kim graduated with honors from SIAST Kelsey Campus with a Youth Care Worker Certificate in 2010. She has certificates in Community Kitchen Training, Food Sanitation, Nutrition Coordinator, and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Adults Who Interact with Youth. Her commitment to community wellbeing and social change goes beyond food security; as she is also a certified instructor for Mental Health First Aid Adults Who Interact with Youth, and volunteers as a member for Righting Relations Regina.
