Human Rights and Freedoms; Dignity, Autonomy and Equity a Trauma Informed Perspective

The Rock Soup Greenhouse and Food Bank presents

A series of 4 workshops and an additional ad hoc session designed to assist, identify, and overcome many of the complex barriers when filing a Human Right’s Claim. The workshops will promote equitable access to those most disproportionately represented; through inclusive representation, empowerment to participate, trauma informed practices, and cultural awareness. The half day interactive sessions are intended to promote a tangible, actionable and safe process for identifying and filing human rights related complaints.

Workshop 1: Grounding In And On The Charter:

It prioritizes inclusive participation from marginalized communities to ensure autonomy in collaborative processes. Through mixed media, group work, and role play, participants will co-create a reporting tool and gain skills in trauma-informed communication, inclusive engagement, and effective documentation.

Workshop 3: Grounding in Hell:

This half-day session combines grounding, meditation, and debrief practices with a guided walkthrough of online complaint processes for Alberta, RCMP, and federal systems. Participants will explore enforcement and conflict resolution at all levels and leave with tools for filing complaints, navigating systems, and maintaining personal well-being.

Workshop 4: Can’t Pour from An Empty Cup:

This session focuses on how to debrief, document, and learn from each incident, while identifying actionable steps and barriers. It emphasizes personal and collective safety, recognizing and addressing lateral violence, and managing crisis-related risks. Through group discussion, mixed media, and movement, participants will gain tools for collaboration, safety planning, and maintaining balance.

Ad Hoc Filing/Barrier Mitigation Workshops:

A solution-focused small group session to collaboratively work on active complaints. Through creative problem-solving and stakeholder support, participants will address barriers, promote inclusion, and support equitable, autonomous filing processes.
