Education and Outreach Intern
Description
The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, an organization committed to the advancement of a culture of peace and human rights, is looking for an intern to support public education and awareness raising to strengthen food security and anti-poverty work. This work is in collaboration with Righting Relations, a national network of adult educators and community organizers working towards radical social change and just in Canada.
The intern will work with team members across the country and curate content from research and asset building conducted throughout 2020. The intern will then use social media and online spaces to plan and push out education that supports vulnerable community members in strengthening their food security and highlights innovation in grassroots work around food security and anti-poverty. In addition to communications, the intern will support the team in planning and hosting online events to promote awareness, education and collaboration.
Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
Duties and Responsibilities
Curate and design graphics and visual assets from content captured through the 2030 Agenda project
Plan out a calendar of outreach on social media and events
Coordinate logistics for events
Support the promotion of events
Schedule social media and online outreach
Monitoring and reporting analytics
Assistance with reporting to funders and stakeholders
Collaboration with team members from the John Humphrey Centre and Righting Relations
Knowledge and Skills
Technical and graphic skills in the use of digital design, editing and scheduling tools and platforms including Canva
Familiarity with Google Workspace and Tools
Social media content management
Writing and editing skills
Time management
Strategic thinking
Education Required
High school diploma or more
