The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, a non-profit charitable organization in Edmonton, Alberta, works to advance dignity, freedom, justice, and security through collaborative relationships and transformative education on peace and human rights.
The Centre’s Project Development Coordinator will be a self-driven, collaborative team member who will support the staff and team at the Centre to develop and plan projects and provide leadership in grant writing and proposal development. This position will also support the research, consultancy and evaluation elements of the Centre as required.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Research and identify relevant funding sources for the Centre’s work.
Collect information and conduct research to develop project proposals and content.
Support the expansion and growth of access to funding for the Centre through developing drafts of the grants, assigning tasks, and ensuring final submission.
Liaise, communicate and collaborate with JHC staff to ensure engagement and participation with project development.
Liaise with funders as required.
Support, coach and mentor staff as required to support development activities.
Participate and engage in research and consultancy work as required.
Skills, Education and Requirements:
Related degree and/or equivalent experience in grant writing, results based management, and evaluation
Awareness and understanding of granting agencies and approaches to grant writing
Detail oriented and able to navigate forms and online portals.
Capacity to use google suite for working and collaboration
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Supervisory experience is an asset
Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
Be based in Edmonton preferably
Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual activities
Rate: $30-32/hr, 35 hrs per week
