VOLUNTEER WITH US!

Volunteers are a critical part of our work.

We believe creating respectful relationships, and cooperating and collaborating with our volunteer network are important in advancing a culture of peace and human rights. Every person has a part to play in community building, thus, all experiences are welcomed to support the efforts of the Centre. The John Humphrey Centre currently counts over 100 volunteers throughout the province of Alberta, and even beyond, supporting various initiatives that aim to protect and promote human rights.

As a John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights volunteer, you can contribute to advancing peace and human rights through a number of ways including:

  • Supporting individual and systemic advocacy on human rights;

  • Contributing to artistic and creative efforts to advance education and understanding on human rights issues;

  • Promoting the work and efforts of JHC through marketing, communications and community engagement support;

  • Educating adults, children and young people about human rights whether through storytelling or facilitating spaces of learning;

  • Support and facilitating spaces of dialogue, learning and community action; and,

  • Supporting administrative tasks of the organization.

Volunteer recruitment is generally ongoing and on a part time basis. Please find information about our active postings and apply via our Volunteer Application Form. Our goal is to review applications every two weeks to determine if volunteers are a good fit for various roles.
